Easy swap but a pain to get the two longer screws back in correctly, glue issue was not a problem but did the swap on a warm day and the plug came loose fairly easily truck was sitting in the sun for a few hours which might have helped

I recently received my 2021 Trail Boss Custom and of course it has the “dumb” mirror. I went ahead and pulled down the console which only has OnStar and overhead lights, pretty basic. There are the 3 unused harnesses like others have mentioned. The dab of glue that holds the harness I need to upgrade my mirror is a little bit of a pain. I used a flathead screwdriver and sort of dug into the glue and just slowly wiggled and pried and it came up.

Now I know the harness is there I will order mirror with the garage door controller. Did anyone ever figure out what the other two harnesses are for?

This thread is so confusing.  It's about 2019-2021 trucks.  Why are guys outside of those years posting here rather than making a thread for their years and thus, cross contaminating the thread???

So I did this swap over the weekend.  I went with part number 13540312.

Got the harness freed pretty easily by using a hair dryer.

I did break the clips on the mirror cover insert so I had to order a new one of those.

I will say I haven't really notice the mirror working.  I've read others say it's not as noticeable as others, but I also haven't driven at night yet.  The closest I had was this morning when the sun was coming up.

I also have my windows tinted.

Anybody else have something similar?  Wondering if the mirror I got isn't good?

Thanks for the feedback.

I have the Gentex auto dimming mirror for sale. Had it in my 2021 Silverado. Works great, excellent condition. Plug and play, no wiring needed.

$100

Is there anyone that went to install the factory auto dim mirror and couldn't find the plug. I have a 2020 WT and I don't think it is there

Mine was super easy to find and connect to mirror.

Green is reverse trigger wire

Pink is auto dim outside mirror(unsure if left or right)

Gray is the other auto dim outside mirror(also unsure if left or right)

You really only need positive and ground. The reverse trigger just disables the dimming when you're backing up. It's only really an issue if you back out of a dark garage into bright sun, but I've had it on other vehicles with the auto dim on full time and it never bothered me.

Hey so I know I’m late to this party but I’ve been curious about the mirror swap thing too and adding vanity mirrors with a damn light. So after some research and reading through all 14 pages here while taking in the leg work some of y’all have done, it seems that there is only one wire harness for the headline and it seems it includes the the wire for the auto-dimming mirror and the vanity lighting it also seems that it includes adding the video rear view camera as well. Now who is brave enough to pull down the entire headliner to look for the connections??

84711896 - that’s the GM part number for the headliner wire harness.
13595368 - the actual GM auto dimming mirror.

13536995 - the GM auto dimming mirror that includes  video

13532977 - the GM auto dimming morror with video and with the home link buttons on the bottom

For anyone thinking about performing the video mirror swap.  I have some excellent condition DRZ oem video mirrors and mirror kits for sale if anyone is interested. 380 shipped for mirror and 675 shipped for total kit (video mirror/harness/light/camera.  Delete if not allowed.  They are also listed on ebay for $400 and $750.  Ebay charges tax to customer and me then takes fees so I am trying to make it so we all win.

Has anyone tried this mod on a 22 refresh RST because I'm trading my 21 RST tomorrow?

I used the 13540312 mirror on my 21 and it has worked perfectly with the wiring harness in the head liner. From my initial once over the shroud around the mirror is much larger, I guess for the crash avoidance equipment. Just going to check here first before I order the same mirror.

I have the crash avoidance on my 21 Custom as part of the Safety Confidence package. I had to Dremel part of the bottom of the mirror mount because it interfered with the camera. It didn't take much and was able to put the plastic surrounds back on with no issues. The mirror I used was one from a truck with the towing package. I don't know what the part number is offhand. I found it on ebay for $45 and won the auction at that price.

If the mirror is a GM part look on the back (towards the windshield) driver side of the mirror there should be a part number.

    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
