New 2018 1500 crew cab owner here. Im getting a center console shake from 68-74mph and if im cruising on the freeway at 75-85 and barely tap the accelerator to go up a hill or pass someone, I get a drone/hum in the rear end that resonates through the whole cab until I take my foot off the gas.

The truck has the factory 2-piece drive line.

Now I did do a shackle drop in the rear but that shouldnt change the drive line angle enough to cause the angle to be too far off I dont think.

Could this be the rear axles being out of round like ive read on some previous posts?

Thanks for the help.  I will call to see how 4wheel parts has been balancing them and if they do or offer road force balancing.  I am not familiar with this, so I dont know what the 15 lbs means or how it would change due to tire size.  Hopefully I can get this fixed.  If they dont do road force balancing would you recommend going to the dealership to have them balance or somewhere else?

Update on my situation:  I took my truck back to 4 wheel parts last week.  They originally told me they would take another look at the truck, but stated I should not need road force balancing unless something is wrong with the truck.  I left the keys and while I was waiting for my friend to pick me up, another employee came up (assuming the manager) and said he didn't think there was anything that could be done as they had already looked at my truck once before (when they originally re-balanced it- not road force).  He said they could replace the tires with a completely different brand and said some tires just dont work with certain vehicles.  I am pretty sure KO2's work with Silverados as they are very popular and I have seen tons of them with those tires.  I told him to have them take another look and that if it kept shaking I would consider it.  I ask him if they could road force balance the tires and he stated that with a mud terrain or aggressive all terrain tread, they cannot be road force balance.  He said the tread messes with the machine and it will not work properly.  I had not heard of this before???  I started researching road force balancing and have seen many post on other truck forums with people having KO2's road force balance.  I found a link on a Tacoma forum to Hunter showing shops that have their road force balancing machine.  4 Wheel parts was not on the list.  What kind of road force balance machine would they be using?

They ended up re-balancing my tires.  I really dont want to switch out my tires, especially since I know the issue is likely with the installation (no vibrations prior to changing tires).  I would like to get my truck road force balanced and see if that corrects the issue, but they obviously wont do it.  I am considering taking it to the dealer or somewhere else with the Hunter machince, but really dont want to pay tons of money to have this done.  What do yall think I should do?

You have a bad set of tires unless their machine has a problem. As them when was the balance machine last serviced and if it has a history of becoming out of spec over time. If the machine is not the fault, call BFG customer care and lodge a complaint for new tires. Bad ones are made every day and it only takes one to make your truck shake like a buckboard.

Have you replaced the A/C condenser yet on your '16? If not go ahead and purchase one now because

you most assuredly will be replacing the stock one.

Does this issue apply to the 2500's as well as the 1500's?

Has anyone read the article in the Jan/Feb Truck Trend Magazine about the 2019 Silverado/Sierra?

Most of the issues that GM has claimed was "operating as designed" since 2014 has been addressed in the 2019 models....Imagine that!!!  Even states that this design wont feel like you are driving a "wet noodle" down the road like the previous years!

Sounds like Truck Trend is subsidized by soon to be Government Motors Version 2.0.  Then we will be subjected to a years worth of J.D Power television commercials depicting the 2019 model trucks as #1 in initial quality and reliability

Most of the quotes were made by GM design team members, Sounds like they are throwing the 14/18 platform under the bus

And here I thought the 14/18 platform was the bus.

Just an update on my 2018 LT Z71. I am nearing 60 days at the dealership without the issue resolved. GM customer relations is involved and I have an open case with them. Unfortunately, GM has been the worst experience I have ever had with any business. I picked up my truck on November 9th after they said that they road force balanced the tires and that the vibration was now gone. Service manager that was reporting to GM for the case and the tech both said that there was no vibration. Well, that vibration was not gone. In fact, it has not gotten any better than when I dropped it off. I noticed that they did rotate the tires because I had secretly labeled them but that's all. They keep just balancing and rotating the tires and it is just ridiculous at this point. I tried contacting GM since November 9th and I JUST got a hold of the lady handling my case...yesterday....21 days later! Then she said she is waiting for the GM engineers recommendation for her to tell me what they can offer me for my case and it would take up to 72 hours...meaning she never touched my case until her supervisor got me in touch with her yesterday.

On another note, I went to Ford to go and trade in my truck but I end up losing way too much money and it isn't worth it but on another note, the Ford F-150 drives WAY nicer than this bucket. I mean, I was a big Chevy guy but you can't argue that it's just an all around better truck with a much better engine and transmission that doesn't slam into gears like this thing so I will definitely be looking at a Ford next time around. For now, I am not sure what to do because they are saying the truck's vibration is "WITHIN SPEC" but that's not the case when the techs drive it and go "Oh yeah, I feel the vibration through the steering wheel and the pedal". So what do I do because I really want to file for Lemon Law but if the results are saying its "WITHIN SPEC", won't they just shut me down and I would have just wasted the time and money to file? Went to the dealership today to drive it with the Service Manager again and he said he was too busy and would be on vacation all of next week so here we go again, back to getting the runaround. Any advice would be helpful as ideally, I would love to trade it in for another manufacturer and at this point, GM offering me another Silverado is the last thing I want because their customer service has just been horrendous. Anyone here filed for Lemon Law even though the dealership says their pico scope readings are "WITHIN SPEC"? Also, why the hell are the measuring at the seat rails? I feel like that must be a reinforced portion of the body in order to withstand a crash so if they are reading from there, wouldn't it technically dumb down the reading? Just lost at this point, any info helps because I dread driving my truck every single day and I pray for the day it gets stolen or totaled.

Foreal. GM is now having me switch dealers. I already filed with BBB and just need to get all the service records over to them.

Hang in there, GM has 4 yrs experience of giving the runaround on vibration! If you are lucky like some you will find out quite a few visits were never documented

@Ericruiz911

It sounds like I am dealing with the exact situation as you, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

I test drove my 2018 Sierra SLT crew cab around Oct 28th and told them I felt the vibration at 65 mph.   Not being aware that this was a chronic problem, I believed the salesman when he told me that they would balance the tires and that would get rid of it.

I bought it on the 29th and immediately called them saying the problem was still there.  They said it may need road force tested, and to bring it back in.  I did... They performed the road force test and discovered that most of the tires were out of spec, and they would replace them all.  Took a few days for the tires to come in, and they replaced them.

The problem didn't change.  Called them back... They said they would have a different tech who is a tire balancing wizard preform the balance, and that would fix it.  It did not.

At this point, I was curious if I was getting close to any limit for returning the truck or if there were any rules for that... So I called GM customer satisfaction.  The operator told me I would have to start the buyback process.  Ok.

As part of the buyback process, GM engineering requested vibration test results.  They had me drive while the tech recorded data on a laptop.  The tech could see the steering wheel visibly shaking while doing the test.

GM came back with no recommendation for a fix, based on the test results being "within spec".  Today, the GM rep called and said the buyback was denied, due to the results being within spec.

The dealer says there is nothing else they can do, and GM won't accept that the product they sold me is defective... So what now?

The way I see it, options are:

1) Get a lawyer and go through the lemon law process

2) Deal with the shake and the possible future issues the truck will have from shaking so much

3) Take it somewhere else to get repaired, which will cost money, and possibly void the warranty

4) See how much Dodge will give me toward a new Ram

Any help would be appreciated.  The customer satisfaction rep didn't seem to care that this is my 7th (and last) GM vehicle.
