I did order July 1 st a 2021 Gmc Sierra Elevation Duramax crew cab X31 regular box. I order it from a dealer located in Ottawa ontario canada. As of now, no production week as been assigned. I'm at week #7 and my dealer told me 8 to 10 weeks delivery. I seen other guys buying Ram's and Ford's and had to wait 20 weeks for the total process. I'm I in the same boat. Around my area all the dealer lots are empty. Some dealers offers to lock a in transit truck. I think I did a mistake ordering instead of locking a in transit truck.

I ordered a 2021 Denali 3.0 Duramax ơn 4/1 from Laura GMC, but never got the allocation.

On 6/15, I placed an order for same truck in KY.  It went to 3400 production last week.   Hoping to see it in September.

How you end up knowing your dealer didn’t had the allocation. I have an order number and I think my dealer know if he as the allocation. And on the GM chat they see my order.

The original dealer told me they were waiting on allocation.  The GMC chat feature told me my order was placed, but not accepted by GM.   It stayed that way for 10 weeks from 4/1 to 6/15.

I dealt with a dealership in KY and they let me order on 6/15.   They called me when they actually got allocation (late July) and then it started to process.   GMC chat then says order accepted by GM for production.

It was supposed to be actually produced last week.   So hopefully will have it soon.

Ordered a 2022 AT4 on 08/19/21 and the order was accepted at GM as my dealer had an allocation for (1) AT4.  He told me that he will be able to tell me on Thursday when the truck will be built.  Not holding my breath......

I have an update on my story.  After 7 months of waiting on a a vehicle that I ordered and was produced back in February, I decided to cut my losses and get off this roller coaster ride.  I found a dealer that had a truck that was already enroute.  It is almost identical to the truck I ordered, plus/minus a few options.  Best news was it was built in Ft.Wayne instead of Silao like the truck I had ordered.  Took delivery and ironically the VIN sticker says it was built 8/21 so it’s a fresh one right off the line.  I ended up paying MSRP, minus GM rebates.  Not as good of a deal as the one I negotiated back in January but I also expect the rebates to go to zero in a few months.  They were over $5k back in January and now are at only $2500.  They have been steadily declining the entire time.  All things considered, I am out only a couple thousand dollars which I would have gladly forked over to get a fresh USA built truck versus one that has been sitting in the Mexico sun for months.

Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting.  My advice would be to get pro active and find something on its way to a dealer.  I do not see this ending anytime soon and it will take a long time for the log jam of trucks to clear.  I wouldn’t want to be the one taking delivery of a truck that is already a year old.  We are probably approaching that point.

By the way, the truck is incredible.

Not the one I ordered but close enough.  Same deal just a different truck. Minus the black bowtie (added one myself) and plus floor mats. Ordered 4/16, built 5/11 and never delivered. New truck shipped 7/24 (Mexico) and picked up 8/21

I'm thinking bailing out and go like you did SLTblue. I wont be waiting 7 months. After 3 see you alligator. I text my salesman about if he has the allocation and since Friday no reply. I have my oder number and GM canada sees it and I dont have more info.  The last response from my salesman '' THE TRUCK IS STILL BEING BUILT HOPEFULLY WE SHOULD HAVE IT WITHIN 3 WEEKS TO A MONTH AT THE MOST''.

Purchased 8/6/21 in FL.

Build date 6/5/21 in Indiana. Put 1200 miles so far. No issues. This truck checked all the boxes, color, technology package, Z71 protection package, safety package....

I luckily found my new AT4 at a dealer last Saturday. It has a build date of 2/21. Came off the truck on 8/27/21.  It has everything it’s supposed to have (S/S, DFM, technology package, rear heated seats). Most of the newer trucks don’t get those things due to the chip shortage. I suspect they’re trying to deliver all the 21’s sitting in the lots so they can move on to the 22’s.

Maybe I will get my Duramax 3.0 before Christmas. Be patient they said. Ordered 07/01 and It's the second production delay. I had a call from my salesman this week and he hope getting the truck in October.

    • What’s missing in all this is patience and investment in the future. Buy a 170K starter home. Ten years later sell it invest in a more expensive home. Eventually you’ll have a 600K home and pay starter home payments. Buy a starter car. Maintain it well. Save the payments after it’s payed for then buy an expensive car if you desire. Buy a tumbler make your own coffee, pack your lunch. Cook your own dinner. Most importantly take care of your car.
    • People mislead themselves. Statistics are highly useful indicators.   Here's the tie-in to this thread. If an oil sample tests shows a wear indicator of 7 using cheaper ACDelco oil, and a wear indicator of 2 (lower = less wear) using a particular brand of Mobil oil, and wear has a linear relationship with engine lifespan, anyone could assume that Mobil is reducing wear by more than 50% (let's just say a 200% reduction for you red state people trying hard to do math) which leads to increasing engine life by 2x. Perhaps, in a vacuum, by itself, when dreamed by AI.   Yeah?! That's what the statistic is saying, isn't it?   No, it isn't. It didn't come out and say engine life is doubled. That's a very bad assumption, and a case of severe myopia by assuming something potentially untrue about the only data point in focus.   Average cost of a new car is 50k. You bet it is.   The median cost of a new car is more like 35k. Expensive cars are skewing the perception that "average" now means a $50k price of entry for a very average automobile. And that's not true. People who don't understand statistics twist the living heck out of them to mean all sorts of things they don't actually mean.   "Average" new car payment is $1000/month. Yep, it is. And in that number are all the $35k new car buyers who bring significant equity, and the $25k new car buyers who finance the car for a month just to get a rebate, and then pay it off. Know what isn't in that number? All the payments made by people who don't finance a car.   Picking one's own data point (don't have a car payment, never paid $50k for a new vehicle, my house cost $170k, I afforded a middle class lifestyle on $4.50/hr) is just a data point. Just like earning $25/hr in an area where the median home price is almost $1 Million is a data point. In fact, it's a lot of data points given that 80% of the US population lives in/around major cities. They're not idiots; the vast majority of them do it to make a living because that's where the big money is.   The highs have become higher, lows have become lower, and how your personal mileage varies is not truth for an entire country. At the same time you can't NOT acknowledge the data. While it doesn't paint YOUR personal picture, it certainly tints the reality that you also live in, as does your single data point.
    • Glad you had success with it. I did as well, but about 5-6 months later it returned. Tried again, same result. This was after the dealer made several attempts and never even got it to slow down.
