I too am a bit disappointed when my new 2019 Silverado RST with every available option but a sunroof didn't have an auto dimming mirror.  My 2013 Silverado LT had one and I honestly never even thought about it having one until now I don't have one.   Much appreciated for all of the information here...I just ordered a mirror and hope to do the install in the next couple of weeks.

Just to confirm...do I need any kind of wiring harness to install this or is it plug and play once I find the tucked away connector?

BTW...My wife noticed too last night that she doesn't have a lighted mirror on the passenger side sun visor...nor is there one on the driver's side.  MSRP $55,000 and can't have the couple of things my 2013 LT had.  ?

That version is plug and play.

It's a little pricey. I got mine with shipping for 40 bucks.

I recently purchased a Gentex GENK41A off ebay because it has Homelink. The plug was not compatible with the wiring harness glued in the headliner. A document that came with the mirror said you can splice it. The mirror is a 3 wire setup - Green (ignition), White (Homelink) and Grey.  The wiring harness in the headliner is Black, Yellow, Black & Yellow, Purple and Green.  I know I can splice the green wires but where would the White wire on the mirror splice to in the harness?  The grey wire for the mirror is unused.

First, thanks to all the people who posted pictures and descriptions. I was able to get my mirror knocked out in about 30 minutes, it would have been much longer if not for all the help.

Second, did anyone else have to deal with this much glue on their harness. Hahaha someone in Mexico loved the glue gun. I had to cut some of it out and then get a pair of pliers on them. 76eabaef98726427cb5181c0c8ceeabd.jpg

Haha, mine was from USA and she was glued on with a fair amount.. if someone has a heat gun it could help not destroy the housing.

The back of my harness clip was ripped off with the glue, thank goodness it wasn't the end that clips in.. and I tapped in so it was okay.

I see online when you build a 2020 TB there is an option on the Interior tab to add a rearview auto-dimming mirror. BUT it says this if you select it

Changing Inside rearview auto-dimming mirror will also change the following: REMOVE
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Front and Rear Park Assist
  • Safety Package
  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
ADD
  • Outside power-adjustable vertical trailering mirrors with heated upper glass
Price Change: -$545   Not sure why those options are tied in with what mirror you have.....

This is interesting. I have an RST with the Safety 1 Package. I plan to install the auto dimming mirror...I hope it doesn’t mess anything up.

Well it's just dumb that they take the mirror away when it can work with the safety systems.

Glad to hear it won’t affect the safety system. I didn’t think it would, but better to check first.

Next thing I'd like to find out is if the wiring for the illuminated visors are up there too.  Any one taking a look soon?

I’m curious too about a work around for adding the lighted visors. Maybe I should make a new thread for that.

Yesterday I installed this rear view mirror. The plug for the mirror was not compatible with the plug glued in the headliner so I had to do some splicing. I found a constant wire that powers the overhead lights nearby. Hooked the homelink up to that. bc66800a97623ecb02a7315e2801ea03.jpg

It looks like you bought a very fancy rear view mirror.

My Silverado didn't come with homelink so I got that mirror on Ebay for $50. Also has autodimming.
