I'd be so f'ing pissed I would burn it and collect the insurance. I'm serious as a heart attack too  They don't sound very competent to be changing motors either. They knew it had no oil in it but tried to drive it into the shop. That's about dumb as it gets right there.

It's my opinion that it would have just been a blown oil line if they hadn't driven the truck.

Agree 100%.

The dealer/ tech whatever F'D up.

Now a small problem became a big problem for you.

Have you tried a meeting with the dealer manager or a call?

Good Luck!!!

For about a week I had tried my Service Manager, Salesman, Chevrolet Support until support told me that they couldn't do anything but oversee the repair.  She said to take it up with the dealer's senior management.  I gave the president 3 pages of call logs and issues with their processes.  I've been working directly with their Service Director & GM now.  They sure do love to assure you that you'll be taken care of and then not take care of you.

Honestly I wouldn't feel so strongly about a new truck if it wasn't for what others have said to me.  I'm also not happy the dealer didn't take the kind of care with the truck they should have.  It's my opinion that it would have just been a blown oil line if they hadn't driven the truck.

I think everyone here can sympathize with your frustration but jeeze, cool down. If they make good and replace the engine and give you an extend warranty then what's the issue? Especially if you are driving a loaner around for however long...you're not out anything. So what if the idiot service tech ruined the engine, same kinda shit happens if they slam your truck into another one or if they hit the bay door or something when they are servicing it; they would (and should) fix it back to factory spec. Just let them do whatever they wanna do and rest easy with that extended warranty. I just think your feelings are hurt more than anything at this point.

Another oil line blown and engine fried? Sheesh.

Sorry, OP. That's a rough go. But I think others here are right... get a brand new crate engine and an extended warranty and go back to enjoy your TB.

Well I’d be glad they didn’t just crimp it a little better and it made it just passed the warranty. I had a similar problem with a 94 Ram transmission. The keeper pin would come out every 4K miles or so and drain the transmission fluid. I could have easily fixed it the first time. I didn’t because it completely drained the transmission. It was at night I didn’t notice it. I figure if the transmission went out they’d say it was because I tampered with it. I finally had it happen enough the transmission started to go and the gave me full value on a trade in. I got a years use for free. Got a V10 with a stick. That blew up at 40K miles. Got a free engine. Traded it in on a 97 Ford powerstroke. What a dog. Reliable though.

I would be pissed as well, was it a Mexican Silverado?  I refuse to buy one not made in the USA.

But a new engine would be fine with me.  And keep in mind, if they know you drove it 200' with a blown oil line, and their tech drove only it 50', they might say "How are we to know the damage wasn't already done?"

Not trying to get under your skin, trust me I am on your side. Just looking at it the way an a-hole corporate lawyer might...

Hope they do you right on it, keep us posted.

I know there are thousands and thousands of trucks sold per week but wow, this problem seems a little more prevalent then normal imo.

I hate to say it zbass but unless this becomes a multiple time to the dealer occurance i dont think lemon laws will work here. Good thing is they are replacing the engine it sounds like, i would refuse any work that is done by a tech inside the motor, the only thing i would accept is a complete crate replacement and also extended coverage on your warranty to give you piece of mind. If you already have an extended warranty they can very easily credit back the full amount and it will be just deducted from your loan principal.

The 1-800 GM call center people can and will give you things like free extended warranties because i have gotten it myself for far less problems than this.

This.  Crate motor replacement and extend the powertrain warranty to 100K.

If it was me i would be glad they blew the motor up. I would of always wondered if it was damaged when it ran out of oil. (Waiting to show up when warranty ran out) I’d take a crate motor and extended warranty.

Yeah, because a patriotic red white and blue Chevy assembled in the land of the free and home of the gun toting beer drinking brave is made with entirely different parts than one assembled across the boarded. These comments always crack me up, I would not be at all surprised if the US assembled truck had worse quality and more issues than one assembled elsewhere...

Don't you go slandering beer in my thread Tyler.

I'd be glad they toasted the motor as well! Better off than the internal scarring it might have gotten from when it first bleed out and then a bearing taking a complete dump 100 miles outside of warranty.

Odds are it was okay, but every second that motor was turning with no oil pressure creating that cushion in the bearings would really worry me.

Personally, I'd be happy the tech was an idiot and toasted it! haha

I echo what others have said... crate motor and extended warranty. Unfortunate situation  for sure.

Do we know if these problems are related only to the 5.3 or does anyone know of any 6.2s with the same issue?

    • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
