I ordered a 21 CCSB SLT on Oct 7th. Dealer just called to say truck has been built and is getting ready to be shipped and he expects it to land by the end of the month. If that holds true it will be slightly less than 60 days from ordering to delivery. When I placed the order I was hoping to have the truck by the end of the year, so timing wise I'm very pleased.

The other good news is the VIN starts with a 1, so it is a Ft Wayne build and not coming from Mexico.

Mine was Ft.Wayne crew std box.

45 days from order submission til it was in my driveway.

We're about 1/2 day from there, but I believe it still would've had a train ride.

Wow that's the quickest one I've heard of, how long until you received your VIN after ordering?

I messed up.

It was 7.5 weeks rather than 6.5 ... sort of.

Yes, my dealer was surprised too.  They had told me probably wouldn't see it til mid/late December.

Orders are picked up by GM every Friday for the processing/acceptance/allocation process.

Didn't get picked up the first week. So it was 6.5 weeks from when it got picked up.

We made event code 3000 by the late the next week. (3000 is 'accepted by production control'; doesn't have a vin yet)

Inquired with GM chat during 5th week, and got word on the Friday from them (and from dealer) that it was built and awaiting shipping. (code for out in the loop to get box liner sprayed before shipping?)

It was on the ground at dealer by the Friday two weeks later.

Picked it up middle of the next week (couple days ago...)

7.5 weeks from first order submission to GM

6.5 weeks from order acceptance.

VIN's are issued during the assembly process.  Tracking uses the order number (6 letters).

(possibly this has to do with Fed regs regarding how VIN's are to be managed.)

I hadn't bothered to ask for vin, because having it really doesn't change anything (except verify which assembly plant built it)

When I knew it was on the way, I build/priced one the same as I'd ordered -- curious to see if any pricing/program changes.

When done I used the inventory search feature to see if there were other similar ones -- and my truck showed up on GM's site as inventory, at the dealer I used, and it listed the vin that turned out to be the one on the truck.

Nope, dealer did not order 2 the same.  (I asked them)

Nope, the truck was not listed as inventory on the dealers site. It was only on the GM site 'inventory' listing of similar trucks at many dealers.

So, I first got the vin from GM's build/price site listing of inventory.

Well glad I called the truck was ordered 10/30 but still hasn't been accepted due to the Max Tow package, he said it restrained and the order wont except until they open up NHT. So doesn't look like I'll get a VIN this year, damn!

Placed my order for a 21 Sierra Elevation CC 5.3L yesterday.  Bedliner included in the X31 Offroad and Protection Package is on constrait, so my dealer can't even submit the order yet.  Anyone have familiarity with how long it might take for that to change?

We rebuilt it without the package and added items back in except the bed liner, but because of the package discount it only dropped the truck price $40 and wasn't thinking I wanted an additional $600 for the liner after delivery.

The slider is included with most of the packages (Premium plus, convenience etc) , and when it is included you can't delete it without deleting the entire package.

New guy here,

Ordered a 21 Sierra 1500 AT4 with standard bed, 6.2, and most of the goodies on 10/16, GMC chat tells me it's supposed to get built this week. Hopefully that means I'll have it mid-December. Can't wait!

Talked with my dealer the other day about the AT4  I ordered 3 weeks ago.  They said still in PENDING. 6.2L, standard box, crew cab,  white color, most all the other packages.  Did you have something from the dealer that GMC chat found out about it for you?

Yeah, I asked the dealer for my order number, chat won't be able to give you any information without that.

According to my dealer, build week was supposed to be this week (11/23/2020). Not sure how long from build to shipping, and transport to Phoenix. Hoping to have it before Christmas.

Good afternoon!
I ordered a 2021 Sierra 1500 AT4 CarbonPro with 3.0L Duramax on October 19. The order got picked up on Oct 23 and it’s supposed to be built this week and at the dealership before Christmas.
I got it fully loaded. Sunroof, Brembo brakes, technology package, 20 inch grey wheels. It said the new Goodyear Territory tires were not available at the start of production. So I’ll change the tires from “P” to “LT” at delivery.

I haven’t heard about any constraints on the AT4. Maybe it’s on certain configurations or maybe I snuck in under the wire.

I’m excited for the new truck. I’ll be trading in my 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel.

I called today for an update and was told that it is currently in shipping and they expect it at the dealership within the next couple weeks.  Just in time for Christmas.

They confirmed that the spray in bed-liners are on constraint so they're apparently just getting them without the spray ins.  I'm glad I got the carbon pro!
