Hey guys, first post here.

I have a 2019 RST with the stock LED headlights.  I think in stock form these headlights aren’t nearly bright enough.  I Ordered bulbs online (v4’s in h11 for the low beam and csp mini’s in 9005 for the high beam) because thats what the video on the retrofit source said was the correct ones.

I received them today and went to install them and the backs of my headlight housings have no spots to remove a bulb, only the turn signals. It’s like the bulbs are permanently built into the housing. Both low and high beam.

so it occurred to me that the bulbs are probably for the base model Silverado’s with the halogens.

does this mean that the stock leds can’t be upgraded??  That’s kinda stupid

Wow...  not nearly bright enough?  You're the first one in thousands of T1 posts who ever complained about the LED headlights... You won't get any better.  Only a few have said they would like brighter fogs. Are your lights adjusted? Have you leveled or lowered. Those housings are sealed. I'm impressed with the light output and they're as bright as you will find.

After riding in the high country with the high output leds, I liked them. But in my RST, definitely not.  A good set of Hids is much much better. The adjustment is fine, they’re just kinda dim for my liking. I’m not trying to have light scattered everywhere like having hids in a reflector housing, I just figured there would be a way to upgrade.

mine are fantastic.....they are not base model halogens, and all headlights should be replaceable....tho I think youll be disappointed on new ones as stock are great...

I think the output is fine., distance not so much but its ok. Probably because the truck sits a lot higher, the angle has to be lower to meet DOT specs.  I have not driven the high county, so I cannot compare the two.  Just going off my other car with LEDS.

That’s my issue, the distance. The immediate area in front of the truck isn’t bad, especially with the fogs but I feel like they’re really not throwing the light far at all

Mike - I appreciate your post.  I bought the exact same bulb sizes and spent about an hour last night looking under the hood trying to find where the bulbs insert.  I also agree the light’s distance is the problem.  We travel a lot of 2 lane roads out in the country at night and I really want to spot deer, bear, etc... as far away as possible.  I upgraded the headlights in my Jeep to aftermarket LEDs and they are twice as bright.  I love my Silverado but am really disappointed with a couple of design decisions they made.  Headlight output and height of the passenger seat are at the top of the list.
so, does anyone know what to do in 5+ years when one of the headlights burn out?  Do we have to disassemble the front of the truck and replace the entire headlight unit?

I agree with Mike Ketchup on this sort of.  My last truck had HID's and I really miss the distance down the road that they lit up, but agree with others about the LED's being bright enough.  I just wish they would throw light further than they do.

I also agree that theses RST lights are not bright enough.  Not sure what anybody was driving before they got one of these new trucks that say they are bright.  My 18 LTZ lights were A LOT brighter.

i figured when i traded my '14 silverado that the LEDs would be night/day difference, but other than the 'color', that's all i've seen. I do half of my driving at night, so i need to have more vision down the road for suicidal deer.  I'm afraid the only way to upgrade them is to get entire headlight replacements.. housing and all. I also don't like how focused the beam is. I don't want to blind oncoming drivers, but if something like a deer is 5 ft to the side of the truck, about 50 ft away, I can't really see it.

Having trouble finding any info for improving 2021 RST headlights. Absolutely HORRIBLE for our mountain driving with suicidal deer.  Drove truck for first time in dark last night and even with high beams the reach is so poor. Dealer adjusted levels after Bilstein's installed. Any suggestions where to search greatly appreciated.

I had a 2015 Silverado LT Z71. The headlights were totally unacceptable.  I installed great LED replacements on the low beams for under $50. Now I have a 2021 LT Z71 with better, but not bright enough headlamps with non replaceable bulbs. If one burns out it could cost me about $1000, is this progress? In several ways my 2015 truck was superior to the 2021. The only reason I purchased a new one was because the old one was totaled in an accident. If I had it to over I would buy a 20 year old truck with low miles. GM is gone down hill with their terrible 8l90 transmission and cylinder deactivation valve train failures.  I will not purchase a Toyota, because I only buy American, but I will only purchase older GM vehicles from now on.
